Exchange Forward outgoing mail to Postfix

Postby undertoe » Mon Jun 26, 2006 4:26 pm

I was wondering if anyone has step by step instructions on how to have outgoing email from exchange go through postfix and then out to the world.

I have postfix transporting to exchange now i just need exchange to forward outgoing to postfix.

I have no clue how to do that.

I did try to set the advance properties under my default smtp server setting in exchange 2003 to my postfix server. that doesn't seem to work.

i can telnet to port 25 on the postfix server from the exchange server and send mail to the world.

thanks in advance!

First see:
viewtopic.php?t=82

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodte ... x?mfr=true

Then (which may posibly be wrong):

http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... t=exch2003

This is from an email I received:

Is this by chance exchange 2003?? If so settng the smarthost is
different from
e2k. in e2k3 there are 2 places you can set the smarthost but
only one of them
does anything. M$ in their infinate wisdom left the smarthost
box in servers ->
protocols -> smtp -> default smtp virtual server -> delivery ->
advanced.
but setting the smarthost here does not work. You need to set it
in servers ->
connectors -> smtp connector -> properties -> forward all mail
through this
connector to the following smart hosts.

If this is e2k then set the smarthost in the default smtp
virtual server
as described above and make sure the check box for fwding all
mail to the
smarthost is checked. If you do not set the smarthost mail will
never goto
the postfix box.

I just went through the same pain about 2 weeks ago. I lost
about 4 hours
until I found the docs on how to set the smarthost in e2k3. :-(
